If this weekend has taught football anything…it is not to write anyone off. Lesson learnt as Chelsea underestimated their London counterparts and came away with more questions than answers. Arsenal fans should be proud of their team, but the pod ask if every week will be like this for Arsene Wenger and his Captain Vantastic. John Terry has made a name for himself, what do you think of him? We discuss his actions and if they make him racist or merely part of a much wider network which makes up British football right now. Discrimination still exists but in what capacity and how do we confront that? Northern teams also kicked a ball this weekend. We look at their progress. Noisy neighbours and discontented old men make comments which they shouldn't and end up offending us all as both United and City get a win. The relegation candidates have also made a case for their salvation, but some monstrous sides have let them down in recent weeks. Have referees served Blackburn well or condemned them to relegation? Are Wigan strong enough up front to survive? Tweet along with the pod as you hear it and let us know your views for midweek. It's another weekend of derbies in the Premier League -- everything from Chelsea against Arsenal to Spurs versus QPR. While we're not expecting another 6-1 result, Jesse Chula and The Gaffer discuss the mid-week Carling Cup results as well as look ahead to gameweek 10 of the English Premier League. There's even time for a post-preview discussion about football shirts, Why Always Me and more. |

In one of the most entertaining weekends in the Premier League this season, there were plenty of talking points for Kartik Krishnaiyer, Jesse Chula and The Gaffer to discuss including Manchester City's thrashing of United, Liverpool's draw against Norwich, the "rugby match" between QPR and Chelsea and much more. A ton of topics were discussed including: where the City win ranks in the history of the club, whether Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is fast becoming a replacement for Theo Walcott, how much United missed Sneijder (or not), whether Chelsea fans should be concerned about their side's disciplinary record, and more. |

The Preview podcast welcomes Kristan Heneage to focus on Sunderland's management structure as the pod previews the Manchester derby. Who will come out on top? Who will perform? Who has performed so far? Who needs to step up to the plate? Kartik, Jesse and Kristan pick over the Champions League football and what that leaves us with this weekend. Mancini is buoyant whilst Sir Alex is reserved but delightful as always. Both managers are hard to judge, but this one is framed by history and potential in both camps. Jesse looks over his shoulder for United fans and Kartik decides is City can challenge the champions. In EPL Talk News we look at racism, relegation and rehashing as everyone seems to be making stupid comments in the press or on the pitch. Where do you stand? Let us know on Twitter or via email: laurencemckenna@epltalk.com Kartik: @kkfla737 Jesse: @jessechula Kristan: @kheneage Laurence: @lozcast Let us know what you think as you listen to the pod or contribute your thoughts as the action unfolds and put your view into the forum. In the pod this weekend there is discussion of racism, flopping and drawing. That's just at Anfield. Sitting in The Kop this week are Jesse Chula and Joseph Weathered, whilst Kartik Krishnaiyer offers his views from inside Starbucks. Up for review: Man City's longevity. Can Mancini's men make it through christmas and more importantly the Manchester Derby with their dignity and their sanity? Sir Alex will have a blunt answer, in the same way that Chicarito did for Liverpool's underwhelming dominance at Anfield as the biggest match in club football ended in a draw. But wait, the league isn't just about the 'Big Four' anymore. Norwich and Swansea make things interesting in the south whilst Newcastle are still punching above their weight. Bolton look buoyant too, but they don't promise half as much as Stoke do. We also look forward to the Champions League and what may come of our prized assets as they square up against the European heavyweights. All of this makes for some tricky predicting but good analysis. If you want to offer your views to the podcast then email: laurencemckenna@epltalk.com Or tweet us @jessechula |

The return of the preview podcast. It brings a whole host of interesting issues with it! Kartik Krishnaiyer and Joseph Weathered join Laurence McKenna to talk about the break, TV and local rivalry. The pod sums up some of the positive aspects of international football as we start to work towards the next break. If you want to have your say or contribute to the EPLTalk Podumentary about the relationship between international football the league then email laurencemckenna@epltalk.com . All ideas and angles are welcome and worth voicing. Audio and text welcome along with suggestions on the angles you would like to see explored in the podcast. TV rights dominate the news and so Kartik and Joseph thrash out Liverpool vs. The World. Is it all it is cracked up to be, or has Ian Ayre just spoken his mind? As with all Preview podcasts there is plenty of coverage for the weekend. Liverpool vs. United is the featured game, but other local derbies also show off the strength and depth of the league. The International break is a great time to take stock of the EPL season so far. Over this break the pod will be excreting podcasts about football issues and news. The usual analysis and feedback is there but without the structure of matches and competition. If you want to put forward a topic for discussion then email: laurencemckenna@epltalk.com Up for discussion this week: International football and why it can only get better; money in the big game, why Man City are good for us all; and TV rights. In the final segment of the podcast we get onto the season so far and offer initial thoughts on the first seven games. To add to these views or discuss some of the points that we have already covered leave a comment or get in touch through the usual avenues Laurence: @lozcast Kartik: @kkfla737 Jesse: @jessechula Joseph: @jdoubleu9479 |

The pod focuses on the local clashes this week. The north east and London were both treated to a double bill of local rivalry. We take a look at what a difference local rivalry makes to the league and how geography can change 'just another match'. Referees were at the centre of the controversy this weekend with missed penalty calls and harsh decisions. Is a closer relationship between player and referee necessarily a better thing? Phil Neville doesn't seem to think so. And the pod takes a look at how convincing United were against promoted Norwich, whilst Chelsea flowed past Bolton. With the international break upon us we want your views on the season so far. What have been critical points for you? What topics crop up all the time and where needs to be given more focus. Email or comment below to share your ideas and we will bring them up on the next set of pods, which will continue throughout the break. laurencemckenna@epltalk.com |
