In this weekend's wrapup of the major stories from the Premier League, there's plenty to talk about including Liverpool winning their first piece of silverware in 6 years, Arsenal thrashing Tottenham, Ryan Giggs making his 900th appearance, Manchester City impressing against Blackburn, and much more. Laurence is on assignment in Milan, so this episode is hosted by The Gaffer who is joined by Matt Duncan, Kristan Heneage and Kartik Krishnayer. All of the above topics are discussed plus the other weekend Premier League matches, as well as a look ahead to the England against Holland friendly. Enjoy your football! |

The cups come thick and fast at this point in the season. It's great to watch teams scramble for position as the knock out rounds make everything look very cut-throat. It's nice to prepare some people for the tragedy at the end of the season. The pod goes through all the results in the Champions League and Europa League to start the podcast. Transitioning back to Britain and the first Wembley excitement starts this weekend. The Carling Cup. Does it get any better? Well from here on in, yes: Cardiff face Liverpool in an inter table battle or both club and country. Matt see the irony in hosting the Welsh capital. Of course some football also happens this weekend in the EPL, so enjoy our short but sharp preview of the vital games to see. FA Cup weekends mean so much to the EPL Talk podcast. They give a great chance to look at the situation from a completely different angle. Conclusion? Yeh, playing lower division teams is harder than the TV says it is. AVB should be angry. 'Arry got away with it. Kristan tells a lovely story about Demba Ba, whilst Matt looks at Leeds and Warnock. Hmmm. Both in precarious positions, but for very different reasons. The same could be said for our teams in the EPL, Arsenal look shattered whilst Liverpool don't know what to do with themselves now they did well…even Gus Poyet seemed happy with them winning. EPL sides were changeable this weekend with mixed set of results. What did you think of your side's performance? The Champions League is back! With a BANG! AC Milan demolished Arsenal 4 – 0. In the pod today? Well, is it really all that bad to be beaten by the Italian Champions? A new team against another rebuilding side. Besides, 4 – 0 is just a bad day at the office, but if you have to many bad days at the office…well…you know what happens. Anyway, in between all of the EPL action the SPL is suffering, Kartik joins the pod for one section to dissect the coming clashes in the Europa League and the fun of non-UCL competition. What can be achieved when the pressure is off? Along with that, the FA Cup have 9 EPL teams still in there. Could it be an all EPL round of eight or will someone upset the applecart? With an easy route into Europe, the teams competing for fourth will have to look at their priorities and act fast to book their place next season. Liverpool lead the queue. Don't they? If happiness is valuable then Liverpool must be saving theirs up for a rainy day… Kenny Dalglish, Luis Suarez and the Anfield collective doing their best to share as much depression around the league as possible. Disappointing for a set of supporters who seemed ready to move on after realising their own ridiculous situation. But as it happens, Patrice Evra is no longer the one stuck between a rock and hard place. KD is…and this rock might be hard to shift. To assess the fall-out and cave-ins of the weekend, the pod are a collective of four: this week obsessed with Liverpool and how they can move forward after this. Posing more questions than usual and wondering if Liverpool have the ability to attract and spend on a new star. Football was played in many different positions across the league. It has stacked the next few weeks up quite well as Arsenal and Spurs vie for top dog position in London, looking back at a disjointed Chelsea. How time changes: Bolton embody that idea, looking up at the promoted lovelies of Norwich and Swansea compete to entertain the fans in their own way. So was football a winner or a loser this weekend? Let the pod know…Tweet along with the match or tweet along with the podcast and give us your views for the next show: EPL Talk: @epltalk Kartik: @kkfla737 Jesse: @jessechula Kristan: @kheneage Matt: @mattcrduncan Laurence: @lozcast |

An incredible week in 'Football News' means that not much has happened on the pitch. Liverpool and Spurs played out a 0 – 0 whilst a cat became the highlight of Twitter on the night. On the news: Fabio gone and Harry should be in, but when and to what end? The pod discusses. The money in the game keeps swirling around as Barcé and Real gain more monetarial ground in the international stakes. Does anyone care? Possibly about as much as we care for Mertesacker and his winter break... Our featured match this week is Manchester United vs. Liverpool. Old Trafford will greet the Anfield Collective with a hostile welcome whilst Kenny swaddles Luis Suarez in praise and ambiguous comments. How will it change what happens on the pitch? Will there be a handshake? Will there be a moment of redemption for either player? It is Super Bowl weekend! So we respectfully nod at that and move on with the biggest game on US television this weekend. Chelsea faced United at Stamford Bridge, AVB lost out on all three points as United gained the respect of the league by coming back to draw 3–3 at the final whistle. Penalties all around! Arsenal thrashed Blackburn 7 – 1 whilst the rest of the league battled in the snow. It meant that many were frustrated by the standard of the pitch, but the standard of football withheld and we saw some wonderful goals. We also preview Liverpool hosting Spurs on Monday night as the two sides jostle for respect in the league. 4 – 0 at White Heart Lane, Liverpool are billing this as a revenge match whereas Spurs look to stay consistent and show their strength. Suarez stepping in for Liverpool again. The Transfer Window has now slammed closed. We got excited and decided that it was time for an EPL Talk Special. With no 'huge' names changing hands the pod didn't pour praise on any of these players. It's a good thing, we have a stable season in the Premier League. It may currently be regarded as a good thing. Does the league understand their restraints better now? The pod also look at the midweek games, season changing points were earned by United as City dropped points to Everton: what does that mean for the top four? Will City lose it from here? Equally, Spurs make a good swap with Everton who have traded up and found their new Duncan Ferguson. Kristan reviews a BBC documentary; the IPL have formulated a league roster; White Heart Lane is up for redevelopment, the excitement begins.
